GOP Congressman Uses Video To Nail Rep. Ohmar Over Disgraceful PTSD Comment

I am fired-up folks and so is Indiana congressman who served in Afghanistan Jim Banks who nailed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) over comments that she has PTSD due to events from her childhood.

On Wednesday, in a now-viral video, Rep. Ilhan Omar claimed she “felt ill” because of “everything that is taking place” in the Middle East — making reference to the recent tension between the US and Iran.

“And I think every time I hear about … I hear of conversations around war, I find myself being stricken with PTSD,” she said. “And I find peace knowing that I serve with great advocates for peace and people who have shown courage against war.”

Banks was furious with Omar’s comments and posted a message that her rhetoric was a disgrace to the veterans that are currently suffering from PTSD because they protected America.

Omar replied and claimed that events that occurred in her childhood caused PTSD.

“Hi Jim, I survived war as a child and deal with post-traumatic stress disorder—much like many who have served or lived through war,” she wrote in the tweet, which was addressed to Banks but not tagged. “It’s shameful that you as a member of Congress would erase the PTSD of survivors.”

Omar’s post was a reference that when she was young living in Somalia she fled with her family in 1991 and spent four years living at a Kenyan refugee camp until her family immigrated to the US in 1995. Normally, that would have been enough for me to think Omar has a point if it wasn’t for her actions that Rep. Banks called her out during the same press conference.

While Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) was discussing the more than 4,000 US servicemen that have died protected our country in Iraq over the last few years Rep. Omar was seen laughing and giggling. Surely someone who is so triggered by the events in the Middle East wouldn’t be giggling and laughing.

Banks then nailed Rep. Omar and wrote, “Your words and actions at today’s press conference reveal your feelings toward our soldiers serving abroad and the video speaks for itself.” Banks, then posted the video of Rep. Omar laughing.
